Default 14.9-15.1 too lean?

Just bought a civic with a b18c1 with type r pistons, skunk 2 valve train & stage 2 cams. Its tuned conservative on hondata, the air fuel gauge stays steady at about 14.9-15.1 all the time (except on cold start, it fluctuates). I was told this could be dangerously to lean.. Should it be closer to 14 for safe daily driving?

That's great for partial throttle. At 50%+ throttle what does it read?

Anything 50+ it reads 15.2-15.3. When I let off the gas or just idle at a light it stays between 14.9-15.1

It's all over the place though when it's warming up in the morning.

At WOT you want closer to 13:1 for the best power.

So it's way to lean than. I was told it's "dangerously" too lean.

15 is getting to the danger zone. It sounds like you are probably safe around town but I'd keep off the throttle until you do a WOT tune.

It's not necessarily dangerous but it will run hotter compared to a richer A/F. Untuned, modified AP2's run this lean with zero issues. I'd shoot for 13-13.5 though.

idk no1 has asked this but what fuel r u running? and what was it tuned on?

i should have elaborated.. if the answer to both of the above questions is 93 then bump up fuel pressure until your at ~13.5 WOT. from what you have told us, you should sit around the same AFR at part throttle depending on your injectors.

that will b 100% safe if what u have told us is accurate. might not be the best fuel economy but it will b safe.

last but definitely not least, Get a real tune.

for partial to and cruising 15 should be fine if the car runs fine. for wot you do not want it at 15. im doing 17:1 at partial throttle with no ill effects

I run 93. It was tuned on Hondata S300 (On a P28).. Im actually selling it so if it's safe, thats good enough for me. I never get on it, as I just take it to work & back but I don't want to set someone up for failure when they buy it.

If it's on an S300 you can easily tune it yourself. AFR tuning is easy if you aren't worried about making power.

You're in florida, contact John vega or Blake Barr for tuning,

That AFR is perfectly find for cruising / idling.. @ wot you will want anywhere between 12.8-13.4 depending on what the setup will like.

I'll pass on the info to potential buyers to bump up the fuel pressure a bit, chances are they're gonna drive it a lot harder than I do.

A quick tune is a much better solution, and you can probably make the adjustments yourself. And trust me, when they get in and drive it when it's around 13:1, you will sell it MUCH faster for a higher price, just because people will get that "speed smile" going.

You've got an S300. Tuning with fuel pressure is terrible advice when you've got control over the entire damn fuel map...
