Default m24 ar.70 turbo...need specs

Title says it all.

Found a guy selling a turbo. Al it shows on it is m24 ar.70

Have seen that a lot of Garrets have the M24 on it but would like to be sure.

No pictures right now.

Any way to tell with these numbers?

Gotta measure those wheels of the inducer and exducer on both turbine and compressor. That's the only way to tell. hundreds of turbos have the numbers you describe, and mean nothing.

Gotcha. Figured it was not enough. Was hoping though.

Let me ask you this, is there anything I can learn from these numbers?
The guy I would be getting it from does not know much about it either. Came on a car he bought. It does need rebuilt. How hard are they to rebuild? Any way to tell if it will handle 500-550hp? without measuring?

Nope. Even the .70A/R doesn't mean its automatically an S-cover vs. say a B-cover

That's a good sign not to buy. Really... If he doesn't know what to do with it, he's just trying to off old equipment in an effort to clean out his garage. Time to look elsewhere.

See that's the trick.. you don't know anything about the turbo, or what's wrong with it. It could be simply internal parts, or could be the wheels/shaft or BOTH in which it would cost twice as much to rebuild, (if it can be) vs, scraping it in the aluminum salvage pile. This is where you DON'T want to buy someone's rebuild, thinking you can just "clean it up" and save money.

NOPE.

A definite sign to steer clear of this.
