Im going to be pushing about 250 to the wheel soon and I was thinking of installing a block guard.. Would it worth the labor to install it? If so, what else could I do to the motor while its ripped apart? Not trying to spend a lot of money currently, I am trying to save up to build a sleeved block with rods pistons..

So should I just keep it as is, or install the block guard? if the block guard alone is 100% worth all the labor and to help my sleeves from cracking.. i'll do it.

the blockguard isnt even worth considering, it can only hurt things

i would get some head studs

i made 266whp with ge head studs and NO blockguard

write up/benefits of headstuds? I have a general idea but I want a more detailed outlook

head studs makes it so the head wont lift like you can get with stock head bolts, just not sure what the whp or psi limit is with stock head bolts

not worth it. take that money and put it toward a good engine management system and dyno tune

Block guards do absolutly nothing to help the sleeves not crack. stock sleeves can take 400-500 reliably. 250 is nothing. just geta good tune because even at 250 with a bad tune sleeves will crack

No block guard, they are junk. 250whp is doable no problem on a stock motor with a decent turbo kit.

This machined support looks pretty sweet. Far better than your typical blockgaurd.

It's installed via precision CNC. (i.e No hammering involved lol)

It's an aluminum insert, so you retain decent heat dissipation. People claim that these cause overheating... but what's the difference between this and a full-blown iron sleeve??? If anything, it would cool better than iron..

I'll finish all that by saying.... 250whp doesn't require any blockgaurd/support etc. Just a need process I thought I'd mention.
