Default 2 questions

Sorry if this has been brought up before but which is better between the k20z3 and the k24 in the new Si? and 2nd what is a good tranny to swap with the 6 speed? I'm tired of the shitty 3rd gear grind and I've read that 5speed is better if you plan on going turbo anyways. I'm pretty new so I don't plan on boosting until I learn alot more but might as well get that out of the way if I can

The k24 has like 5 more horsepower but gobs more torque. Unfortunately, it doesn't rev nearly as high.

I think everyone's biggest complaint will be in integrated exhaust manifold... hopefully they fix that when they do the redesign (I'm not going to hold my breath though). With an integrated manifold you will be severely limited with tuning as exhaust has always been a downfall of Honda motors stock. This has always been able to be fixed with a decent header though. You won't be able to do anything about it with the new K24 now

How would a 5 speed be better? Longer gears = slower acceleration.

As already mentioned, the K24 in the '12+ Si has the integrated header, so I'd stick with the K20.

yea after a little more research I pretty much came to say I'm sticking with the k20. I'll be deploying soon and as soon as I get back home I'm trading my coupe for a sedan si so hopefully I won't have to deal with the 3rd gear grind I have now

Lots of people say the integrated manifold is a negative and I tend to agree. The R18 engine had the same type of manifold and it actually did rather well when boosting!?!? A number of guys have done frankenstien swaps with k24 bottom ends with a k20 head and made rediculous power..... but as far as I know, no one has done anything like that with the new motor????
