Real quick, how to tell 90-91 Cable, 92-93 cable LS trans apart??
might have worded that a lill wrong..but I need to kno a quick easy way to tell which is which. I do kno that the spline count and or the imput shaft size differs from the 2 diffrent year sets.
back in the day i just use to grab old clutch disk's i had laying around (labeled with the year) and figure it out that way....but have no more old parts, 1 cable LS trans, and in need of ordering the right clutch the first time.
any help well do, thanks guys

The easiest way to tell even without taking the transmission apart is look at the output shaft where the clutch disc would slide into 90-91 have a smaller spline and 92-93 is the same as 94 -00 bigger spline. Good luck
yea the tranny is out of the car, its one of my old spares....and really no clutch's to to figure it out that way so...
figured count the splines or measure with my caliper. just need to know what im looking for.

90-91 do Not have the 12mm detents on the bottom for the shift forks. 92-93 have (2) 12mm bolts that have a spring and ball on the end.

92-93 cable has a 24 spline shaft just like the newer hydro trannies. I know that for a fact. I just counted the splines on my alignment tool from my comp twin which is being used with my ys1. I read that the 90-91 s1 tranny has a 20 spline shaft. I can't confirm that but it's the info I was able to find.
90-91 has the same spline count, just smaller diameter.
Like someone said above. The 92-93 YS1, and 94-00 Hydro have 12mm detent bolts (the hollow bolts with the springs, that apply pressure to the ***** on the shift forks), where as the 90-91 dont. Those two bolts are on the side of the housing that faces the ground, bronze in color. Thats the easiest way.

You can also look at the bell housings. If you look at the triangular hole above the diff, they are different.
90-91

92-93 (We were filling in the whole, but you can still see the difference. Just imagine it doesnt have the plate in it)

I was thinking the spline count was the same, but the size was a mm or two different. I had to research it before I ordered my twin disk. I just couldn't remember and couldn't seem to find the info.
