my gas light is about to go on cause my needle is basically touching that red part now... how much further can i go??
i'm scared

 

I've never tried to run it completely dry but according to tank capacity and how much I put in... theres probably about 2 more gallons.. so u figure maybe 50-60 more miles? I usually fill about 10-11.5 gallons.. could also be the station I go to but that figure seems pretty constant... also depends on how you drive obviously... if your driving hard you'll get less mpg out of the remaining gas left..

 

until you can't go anymore.

 

I think you get 1-2 FULL GALLONS when the light comes on. It's in the manual....

 

put a gas can with some extra fuel in your hatch and see how far you can get.

 

go to the gas station instead of being a moron

 

on the way to HIN i drove like 20 miles on my gas light...and it took me 3 hours....I wouldn't recommend trying it though. Damn HIN and their rules about less than 1/8 of gas to get in

 

the most i ever got in my car when the gas light came on,and stayed on, was somewhere around 50 miles but don't push ityour call will kill itself if the fuel ressivoir goes below acceptable levels, the rsx is even worse it cuts off 20 miles after the light comes on i know this because i had a loaner and i had to walk three miles in 100 degree weather in a three piece suit to the nearest gas station.

Your tank is 13.2 gallons. If you know your normal mpg, you can estimate it from there.

 

Just take some gas in a can and then go driving and see how far you get.

 

Does it harm the engine to drive it until it runs out of gas? Arent you just picking up all the debris from the bottom of the engine? Just curious..

 

But the fuel pump is at the bottom of the tank anyways so you are always sucking in debris even with a full tank

 

pull over to gas station whenever u get that light, fill up the tank.. look at the gas pump display and subtact it from 13.7 or 13.2... then estimate how many miles/gallon you get (15-30mpg?) multiply that by the number of gallons you had in the car before the fill up

 

our cars get great millage. so theres no need to worry. ive driven about 50 miles with the gas light on. and even then the car wouldnt take its full 13.2 gallons (was 12 i think, most ive ever put in).
i usualy wait till my odometer says ~325 before i fill it up again, light or no light. sometimes tho i will fill it up before that if its convinient.

 

dont push it!
its not good for the motor
especially if you torque it and scream vtec w/ the gas light on.
your starving the motor and it could blow or perm hurt it because your forcing it to make alot of power with not much gas.

i've drove on the freeway at stop and go traffic around 5mph w/ the light on for 15-20miles @ 40-45mins.

scarry as hell till i got to the next gas station up in no where land!

 

Dont push it. Its not an electric, it will eventually run out!!!Been there and done that.
