Default Installed headers, burning through gaskets?

I have an 88 Civic Si with a b18a1. I've wrapped and installed my headers but this time I am having the strangest issue. The gasket between the headers and downpipe keeps burning up in the same spot after about an hour or so of driving. I have tried the highest quailty sheets, cutting my own, etc. It keeps burning in the same spot. Thoughts? Am I just not cranking the thing down flush enough? I mean I'm thinking the threads cant take much more than what they are at now.

Thanks.

Ill check but man I'm sick of taking this thing on and off. It's brand new and name brand, just doesn't seem likely.

I'm agreeing with you there. I honestly just want to know what I need to spend to get a well crafted reliable product. The big problem is, you can't put a price on something so hard to find. I'm done with aftermarket, I'm actually restoring the car to 100% OEM over the next few years. If the part wasn't made by Honda and still in the honda packing, I'm no longer interested.

Seriously...

If it has two flat mating surfaces you need to sand them flat. Use a wood block with sandpaper attached. I used 80 grit. I had the same problem with an obx header. It was extremely warped.

If that's the case I mean, it really doesn't seem worth the cash for this "high end" equipment. Money is not the issue, time is, and I've had this thing apart three times now.

Anyhow, thanks for the suggestion, next time I get around to taking it off I'll make sure they were made correctly...

You still haven't mentioned exactly what "brand name" header this is. It seems like you're not mentioning it on purpose.

Is it for any reason other than not wanting to "hate" on a brand? or is it a not so "brand name" brand name?

Just curious.

I wasn't aware of this either.

OP, Megan is by no means a "quality" product. $170 for a header is still a far cry from dropping real cash on a decent header.

I would bing it up with Megan and see if they'll go good for it, if not, try another brand.

Had the same problem with my greddy header, called them up and as soon as they gave me a label for return shipping they sent me a new one.

Hmmm... I'd like to just send them back altogether, but I've already spent the money and time on wrapping them, coating them etc.

Sounds like unfortunately its my fault for not researching more. That sucks.
