Integra Type R Key
Hi, I want to purchase the following key:

Would this key work once it is cut, or is there something else i need to do? If so, can this be done at a dealer or can a key cutter person do it? I notice the key says 'No Transponder'
I have an AUDM 2001 DC2R.
Thanks

You can't run those if you have an immobilizer can you? I was under the impression that they didn't have a chip. I'm actually really sure on this one. I think the only "cool" option is the normal key with a red acura logo.
I bought one a while back, don't think there is any chip/immobiliser to worry about. Do the Aus ITRs have an immobiliser? And yeah just get cut anywhere, nothing special
Yea, ours does have an immobiliser, well im pretty sure it does as i have the RED spare key which wont wont let me start the engine. So i guess that answers my question? My dash also has a green key light
Probably explains why my red spare key wont start the car?
Those particular keys (35113-ST7-Z01) are specific to the '97 and '98 Type-R's and as such, have no immobilizer chip in the head. Starting in 2000, Acura introduced the immobilizer function in the ITRs (as well as the other models) and changed the key style to one with an immobilizer chip inside the head. (35113-SY8-A03)
The ITR key pictured above will not work in any 2000 or 2001 vehicle with an immobilizer because there is no chip to communicate with the immobilizer unit in the steering column...
I myself use that key in my '01 Integra but only because my car is K swapped and utilizing K-Pro, which allows me the option of disabling the immobilizer function. I work in the parts department at Pohanka Acura in Chantilly, VA. Hope this helps...

Well, i am getting S300 soon, is there a similar function in there that disables the immobilizer function? If there is, i guess that means i would be able to purchase the key? Would this make my car anymore prone to theft?
IIRC, yes the S300 software has the immobilizer enable/disable function...don't quote me on that though...and yes, obviously your car will be much more prone to theft if your immobilzer is inactive...you can quote me on that...be smart, keep heR safe.
Well i guess the key would be nothing but an ornament to me then. Thanks for the info.
i bought mine from eBay for around $30 like 1 year ago, u can use it to open the door

Just sold one of these keys. It's designed for use in a 97-98 USDM ITR with no immobilizer.
You can also use it in 00-01 with different ECU/Software that no longer look for the immobilizer.
If you need a new key, best bet is to hit up the dealership and have one cut/programmed.

I don't know. It looks as if the one in my link is a little smaller than the black key with the white A. The smaller key may be the only one available with a red A. I've never seen the bigger one with the white A have a red A..
Well this is what I have concluded..
For the 2000-2001 ITR (immobilized):
Black key with red "A" 35113-SY8-A01
Gray key 35113-SY8-A02
Black key with white "A" 35113-SY8-A03
The key with the red "A" is smaller than the other two common keys, and the gray key is commonly known as the spare.
The red/black is difficult to find. Most OEM dealer sites redirect you to the black/white key when you search the red/black part number, and say that the black/white key replaces the black/red key. Possibly the black/red key has been discontinued and the part number is just the same now for the black/white key, becauase I have not seen that part number stated as discountined anywhere yet. Perhaps the black/red key is too small for an immobilizer..
