So i gotta 89 hatch that is dead. When you turn the key, there is no action (you do get dash lights and the fuel pump noise but that is it) there is not the annoying beeping either, it struggles to beep if you keep trying to turn the key over. starter is good . i dont know if its the neutral safety switch, ignition, ..... i am just stomped and need help.

 

struggles to beep? did you check the battery? spray a little starter fluid to help it start. if it starts with the starter fluid, then dies. then its a fuel issue, like injectors or something.
you can also take out the injectors and soak them in a cleaning agent like chemtool berryman b12.

 

Check main relay , solenoid and the last thing is pedal safety switch ( this is what happened to my 89 civic si hatch).

 

the car wont even try to crank. not trying to turn over

 

main relay was just changed, and still nothing

 

Grounds? Go over them. Valve cover-headlight bezel, wire harness-thermostat housing, trans.-body-battery.

 

Pedal safety switch ...check now

 

im having a hard time located the switch, can you describe it?

 

Locate the clutch and lOok up ...it's at very top close to firewall.
