Default Difference between TD31 and TD31U

Hey all. Looking to replace my Dizzy on a 91' Accord EX. The one that's one there now is an after market Cardone and it's got "TD31U" on it. While searching for other Dizzy's I notice some just say "TD31" or "TD34" etc., without the "U". Can someone please tell me what the "U" designates? I know the one I have and need has the coil inside the Dizzy, so is this what the "U" signifies or more like where it's made or something. Is there a reference list of different year/models of Honda Dizzy's anywhere that anyone is aware of? Thanks

Isn't the 91 EX supposed to run the 30100-PT3-A72 (TU-34U) (TEC) distributor?

Are you basing this on what you are seeing online for part numbers or are these numbers that you are actually reading on the distributors?

I'm pretty sure all the OEM Honda TEC manufactured distributors have the part number with the U stamped on them. I could be wrong though.

Although not positive about any of this myself I'm only going on what is on my current after market Dizzy (Cardone Select) which has TD31U on it and then searching the Internet for used OEM Honda original Dizzy's I noticed that most if not all just say TD31 or TD34.

Don't know how picky these things are as far as car trim/models, i.e., EX, DX, LX, etc. What I have is a 91' Accord EX Wagon, AM Trans, 2.2L fuel injected motor.

When I bought the Cardone a few years back the "TD31U" was the cross reference version or what ever for my year/Model of Honda. It has an internal coil. Anyway....just don't want to plop down some money on a "TD31" and find out I need a "TD31U". I just don't know what the "U" signifies. Thanks

What you should be looking for is a TD-34 (U) the U does not make any difference as far as the physical distributor set up is concerned. It is an internal coil distributor listed for the 1991 Accord 5 Door, EX 4AT 2.2L PGM-FI Engine. Part number 30100-PT3-A72.

Obviously the TD-31 works as well..... I'm pretty sure they are the same. the TD-34 is 1991+ where the TD-31 is 1990 vintage

Ok, thanks for that info Ghost. Yes, I knew that both the 31's and 34's work on the 90's and 91's, just didn't know what the heck the "U" stood for. Thanks again guys.
