98 Auto Transmission Issues
Hello All,
We are replacing the auto transmission in our 98 accord ( F23 ) its an automatic.. After a fluid change at 140k miles ( I didnt know not to have it done ) It started slipping very bad.
We purchased a used JDM transmission online from http://www.japanmotorimport.com/
http://www.japanmotorimport.com/jdm-...product_id=348
They have a bunch of the sensors marked in a pink marker, they say we have to swap the sensors from our USA transmission to the JDM transmission..
Does anyone know if the problem could be in the sensors or is it usually Trans/Torque converter related?? Im assuming the JDM ones are incompatible??
Id just hate to transfer the sensors which have the problem to the new trans, But I think its not the sensors but word clutch packs worn/glazed ..
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

But the 740 code persisted and it was found that the PR valve inside some transmissions was over correcting and blocking flow to the cooler below ~1200rpm http://www.sonnax.com/system/pdfs/35...pdf?1320330979
AFAIk outside of the bead bearing issue, this seems to be the most likely reason as to what was cooking TCs in certain cars. If you did a lot of stop and go in heavy traffic your transmission was cooking itself.
If you can find out what the values of the sensors are supposed to be then you could verify if they are correct for your car. I don't know why Honda would bother with changing the sensors, but stranger things have happened.
I don't know why the sensor values would be any different, but if they are just replace them. But you you should replace any O rings from sensors that are to be swapped over.

The problem with overheating TCs was initially thought to do with sealing issues. http://www.sonnax.com/publications/c...rter-forensics

Thanks again for the above info.
You probably already know this but didn't see you mentioning it, but Honda's transmission only want Honda's fluid in it. My friend who has a 97 Accord, took it to a regular shop for brake fluid replacement. They wanted to replace the trans fluid. I couldn't answer my phone when he called to asked. So he agreed and never told me after. 3 months later, it was acting weird, like slipping gears and shifting early some times. So after all the questions and the freaking dealer wanted $1600 for a new transmission replacement, I finally found out he had the fluid change. So we bought 9 bottles of Honda's ATF and I replace it. The little problems still persist but not as bad. Drove it for 1000 miles, replace fluid, all symptoms gone. Just last week, another 4000 miles and I replaced the oil and did the trans fluid once more. All shifting is like new. I think power steering fluid is next week. Honda's stuff is expensive, I'll tell you but it's not worth with the hassles for a little saving.
I read the PDF mentioned. Does this mean, the part they offer is a permanent fix for the transmission problem?
When my transmission goes, should I insist this part be used when they fix it?
