hp in jdm h22a motor?
i have a 98 prelude and would like to eventually swap my current h22a to a jdm h22a....how much hp would do these motors have...I am seeing different results from different web sites and i would like a legit ansewer before i make any decisions
i wanted to have a jdm type r (i know its called a type s but I think type r sounds better) prelude....plus the current motor i have as of now has some serious wear and tear and i want to make it a jdm prelude, but the reason why i wanted jdm in the first place was for a slight power increase and i heard that the jdm motor can handle more, incase at some point i may feel like slapping a turbo on it..........all in the near future of course

thats the type s.. those are rare
to answer your question the h22a has the exact same output as the 5th gen h22a4. which is your motor. if i were you rather than doing an engine swap i would just rebuild your current engine with beefier internals to give it the same or more horsepower than the type s

If you REALLY want to spend the money on a red top H22 then get the full swap from the Accord Euro R, best of the 3. You can't even use a Type S unless you are in a SH since it has ATTS and there is nothing special about the SiR S-Spec, Euro R gearbox is way better.
i think type S is 217 and the SIR version is 220hp, best idea would be an accord type R (UK) or euro R (JDM) engine, the gearboxs have same ratios in both i belive but they could still do with a final drive gear replace. the 4th gen preludes had a 200hp jdm engine.
jdm h22a blacktop manual=200hp
jdm h22a blacktop auto=190hp
jdm h22a REDTOP s-spec/type-s/euro-r=220hp s-spec and euro-r come with lsd 5speed where as type-s comes with ATTS
hope that helps!
