Default B20B for 1990 teg GS

My 1990 teg's B18B needs work and people have suggested I just step up to a B20.

Exactly what year/s B20 will fit into my 1990 teg w/o modifications?

Is there a specific 'model' or version of the B20 that will fit?

Am I correct in assuming that 5-speed tran from my B18B will NOT fit a B20?

Thanks,
G

Yes a b20b will work, and it will not have a problem with your tranny either, but you will have to use the intake manifold, distributor, and fuel rail from your b18a1.

And the older Preludes did run a b20 but it was the b20b4 which is the red headed step child of the b series motors and will not work as a swap.

try and get your hands on a b20z, if you can. or jdm b20b with high compression phk pistons. regardless of the b20 you get, look for the knock sensor at the back of the block to confirm high compression or not.

the usdm b20b with p3f pistons really isn't even much of an upgrade to the b18a. in fact, the intake cam is even milder than what you have now. with the a1 transmission, it'll be a dog

Im in the same boat at the moment. But does it matter that the b20b is obd2? I get thats why you using the distributor from the teggy which is obd0 but will everything work? Im buying the b20b today and do not want to start putting things back together and have something not work. Is there a built thread on it because all i see is the b16, h22 and k20 for the da i think. Please let me know if anything else is needed for the swap

everything will work, but i would swap over your stock intake manifold, injectors, alternator, and distributor.
