my temp gaguge is stuck below the C and it wont go any where
I have a 2001 Honda prelude base model. The temperature gauge is stuck below the c. and it won’t move anywhere, the car drives normally I’m just scared I will over heat it and won’t know. My other problem is that my gas gauge isn’t working either. Although my orange light came on when i was out of fuel so that’s the only way that i know. Everything else works fine. Any ideas how I can fix these issues. Please help I bought this car 2 weeks ago and i wasn’t paying attention to it because i turned it on when it was cold and I just thought it needed gas. So please help
Ok...here's my thoughts....
If your low-fuel light is accurately pinpointing that you have low fuel remaining: That tells me that your floater's resistor (and wiring) are working properly. That narrows down the fault a little closer-related to the dash gauge and not in the gas tank.
Also, having 2 gauges on the dash not working is usually a sign that you have a blown/missing fuse. Check the fuses inside the car and under the hood for all fuses that power your interior electronics.
Don't go out spending a whole lot of money until you have looked at a schematic of the fuse panels to see which one powers those 2 gauges.

As far as the coolant temp goes, could be in the cluster, could be the sensor on the side of the head. I would unplug the sensor then try grounding it, see what the guage shows. Then take a jumper wire and put 5 volts to it (you can un plug your tps use the center plug to get 5v) see what the gauge does. If the gauge moves with voltage, then your sensor is dead.
I was under the impression that the low fuel light was actually a different sensor, not on the float for the fuel level sensor, but I have never had the pleasure of dealing with mine so . . .

If you don't want to drop the tank for such a petty thing, you can try to run some strong fuel cleaner through your tank to see if it cleans up any trash on the moving path of the floater arm assembly. You might just have some gunk stopping the arm from floating down that low.
Your troubleshooting on the coolant temp gauge/sender is spot on. I didn't know to use 5v but that is the kind of troubleshooting I would recommend. +1!!
