Default 95 civic dx, no crank

Hey guys, so i'm kinda stumped right now. I drove my car to the park then on my way back stopped to get gas at the station. Turned the car off and since then the car does not start. There is no crank or anything. First thing I checked was the under hood fuse and its fine. When the key is in position 2, I can hear the fuel pump prime and the main-relay click. For the past few days I've been pushing the car and bum-starting it on a down hill. So I don't think it has to do with spark. The distributor, spark plugs and cables are all under a year old.

Are there any other fuses that might be the cause? Is there one under the dash to check. The battery about a year and half old and trying to jump the car doesn't seem to work either. What could it be? Thanks in Advance

5 speed or auto? Is there any power to the small wire on the starter when you try to crank it?

it's a manual, sorry shoulda specified. I mean I can't bum-start the car on an auto. I honestly haven't checked the starter. How would I test the wire? Multimeter im assuming?

Call me crazy, but that sounds like a starter problem..

Might also want to look into bypassing the ignition switch BS in the steering column. You would do this by wiring in a push to start button basically. I recently had to do that in my EG and it solved ALL the starting issues my car has ever had.

Is the rubber stopper missing at the top of the clutch pedal?

Ignition and Starter would be the first things I check.

That sounds like a terrible idea.
If your ignition is bad, replace the ignition.

Check that the battery is fully charged.
If its fully charged...double check all ground connections, check them GOOD, very good...

I bet its one or both of these.

Previous owner of my car did that crap and I have to fix it. I thought about a s2k style button but I rather just have it stock.

Turn your keys to on and run a wire from the battery to the small wire on the starter. If it starts it's your ignition switch.

Excellent advice! I will try all of them.

@RonJ@HT: It is a little unclear where the rubber piece is under the dash

No, no clicking of any sort when I turn the key all the way. No noises, nothing. Only hear the fuel pump prime initially and the click from the main relay.

i shoulda read that better but yeah, to check that wire you need a test light or multimeter, and a buddy. Turn the key to start and see if you have power at small wire on starter. What ron is saying, I belive its on the pedal, way up there. I been reading a lot about it popping out and causing problems.

no cels or anything?

if you've been bum starting it, why have you not replaced your starter?

this really sounds like your starter is done...

have you tried bum starting aka push starting it again?

look for telltale little pieces of blue pedal stopper on the floor. and order one for the brake pedal while you're at it so you brake lights will go off when you let loose the pedal

Same thing here. Gotta do some more investigative work.

Yeah I have been BUM-Starting it for the past 3-4 days LOL. Didn't have the time to take a look at it thoroughly. There are no check engine lights either. It might be the starter...

Look what I found lying on the mat of my car. This thing!

So it seems its the stupid rubber on the pedal assembly. I removed the under-dash panel, but I still could not find the switch or the hole missing this rubber piece. I tried sticking my hand underneath as far as I could but, I still couldn't put my finger on it (pun intended). How far up do I need to follow the pedal assembly? Is there an easier way to get to the switch?

I found out the part number for this rubber from another HT-Thread

very helpful
