Default Break light switch

Has anyone ever had one of these go bad? All of a sudden, I have no break lights. I have running lights and tail lights. Checked bulbs,
Both looked ok. I have a 99 LS

It's a switch, switches go bad all the time.

Unplug the brake light switch and jump the 2 leads, [most likely a white/green and a green/white] if the brake lights work, the switch is bad, replace it.

If brake lights still do not work, test for power on on the white/green, [input], if there is no powe,r check fuse and wiring to the brake light switch, if there is power, wiring from the switch, [green/white] to the brake light bulbs the bulbs themselves and the ground for the brake light bulbs. 94

If the "button" was gone, [broken] the brake lights would be on all the time. 94

By turning the screw, do you mean the Allen screw? It looks like a Allen plug on the end, opposite end of where you plug into the iacv.
