Default Passenger side tranny leak at axel/axel loose

So ive been noticing a puddle under the right side of my car after driving it recently. I finally got a chance to look at it and it seems to be coming from the axle where it enters the transmission. The axle has some play to it and i can move it up and down slightly. I havent driven the car but two times since ive gotten it, so dont believe i have hurt anything. The puddle has discouraged me from driving it. My questions are:

What can cause the axel to be loose like it is?----Bad axle seal at the tranny?

Improper install of the axel and just needs to be re-stabbed?

I dont believe there is anything wrong in the transmission cause there are no funny gear grinds or weird vibrations coming through the driveline.

Any and all thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks

Might as well just put a new seal in and see if it still leaks. Not sure why there's play, the splins should go in fairly snug.

Yea thats kind of what i was thinking, figured it was the seal before i looked at it, no play in the driving or jerking from getting on and off the throttle. So i was quite surprised when i found the axle had some play in it when i felt around it.

sounds like an axle seal. that happened to my del sol. found out shotty install of the axle seal when i bought the car after i filled the trans with new fluid, so I replaced the axle seals on both sides. better to do both than just one.
