Okay so my b20b4 block got back from the machine shop and Im trying to go about reassembling it. I have a few questions:

For bearings Im going with king rod and main bearings (thrush washers too) How do I know if i need standard or oversized bearings? Im using the stock rods.

Some say the bearings need to be pressed in others say they can be put in by hand?

Anyone have any feedback on KING bearings? PS Im doing N/A B20b4 and dont plan on revving it to 9k.


Also any pointers to reassemble process are greatly appreciated!!

Assuming you didn't do anything too radical to the rods and crankshaft...


put your stock rods on the crankshaft and plasticgauge it. that will tell you if you need the standard size or step up to oversize. This goes for the main bearings too. That way you don't waste money buying a second set of bearings for nothing.

the bearings fit in by hand. I would NEVER press any rod or main bearings in.

I don't don't have first hand experience with king bearings. I just use oem honda or ACL bearings.

 

I would recommend picking up the book: How to rebuild honda B-Series engines. I have it and with the factory service manual, It will make the rebuild so much easier for you. I just followed the step by step in the book and used the manual for the torque/measurement specifications.

Also Im debating on whether to resuse the pistons or get a new set. The skirts arent cracked and the ring glands are in good shape. what do you guys think?
