For everyone that knows me, knows that i never drive my 90 civic si and it just sits in the garage. well i have a problem.

-In the morning *COLD* drove it for about 30 miles. started the car about 3 times no problems(....... but for some reason on cold start the motor only goes to like 1k rpm when most of the time it usally at like 1.5k until it warms up) correct?

-I should mention that the gas in the tank is 1/4the full, almost empty. ASO that the gas has been in that car for like 2months without filling up.IS THAT OKAY TO USE OLD GAS?

-later that afternoon i start the car up.. it's fine UNTIL about 3 block away from home at a stop sign it sputters but i give it gas..... okay the very next stop sign
same thing but this time it DIES!!!

- i tried cranking it but won't turn over (it did like 2 time out of 15 cranks)!!!
******then i hear a poping sound from the exhust(po-pop-pop...) I'm thinking oh ***** WTF did i do......

So i just pushed it back to my garage. what do you think it is?
________i'm thinking fuel pump relay/fuse?
**can't be the batterey new & antenator new
**can't be started, because the motor keeps cranking but won't turn over(if it was the started it would not even CRANK? RIGHT?)

hmmmmm...

check if there's spark...

check if there's fuel...

drain the tank and fill it up with some new gas...

anyone else that would like to throw in some more ideas ?

 

how do you check for spark & fuel?

 

spark is easy, but you would need 2 people for this method...

pull a spark plug out of the head and put it in the spark plug wire. hold the plug near a ground and have someone crank the motor. check to see if the plug sparks.

i think for fuel you just lossen the large nut/bolt on the left side of the fuel rail to see if fuel is present.

 

you have to check the fuel pressure. there is a test port. you might have fuel pressure but it might not be enough


might be the fuel pump. good luck. I hate dropping the damn tank to replace those suckers

Put 1 gallon of gas in ther.. maybe ur out of fuel . Check for spark!.. if you want us to help you have to try to get it done and get back on here and tell us the results. So we can further help u.. Check If fuel pump is still working. Also check ur injectors.

how many miles on the car????
it might be your injectors see if you get some injector cleaner and if that works... ummm but b4 you try this let it start up and let it warm up like for 3 mins... see what happens...
it also might be the main relay but i doubt it

thanks guys. I will try to see what i can do on tuesday. I never drive me civic it just sits in th garage. I have two jobs and don't really have time to even try to fix it. thanks for replying.

i will go to Napa and get some fuel stabilzer and a gallon of refresh 90oct gas.
I will also check for spark. will get back to you guys as soon as i try the above.
