Default Tire size in relation to 1/4 mile time & MPH

I'm just wondering something. I am an occasional track(drag) racer and here's the situation i am in

I have a '98 civic coupe swapped in a JDM B16A

Last year I ran a best time of 14.8 @ 92MPH

Over the winter I pieced together a trubo kit and had a friend start and a garage finish + tune my car. It's only street tuned for now, @ 7psi will a t28 turbo

I went to the track first time this season a couple nights ago and ran a dissapointing 14.8 @ 98mph (well, everyone ran a bad time, it was below freezing out)

Now I know you can tell by my time and trap that I am spinning too much. First gear, regardless of how soft I launch or how I feather the pedal, it's just spins like crazy. Going into 2nd, it just it'll spin till about 60-65mph before it catches

Now here's where my tire situation comes in. Right now I have some no name (and probably chinese made) tires, 205/40R17. I was looking into getting 2 Falken Azenis for the front, but then I was thinking are the rims too big?

If putting falkens on my 17's isn't a good idea, what would the ideal tire size be for max grip, and with this size, will my MPH be higher? Would it be higher if I spun less with better tires?

Pretty much what im asking is, will the MPH//ET difference be sufficient enough to warrant smaller tires, or will I be fine with the 205 40 17
Thanks for any input

mph wont change much. you need more boost! 7psi is too low to run good times.
slicks would be the best maybe a 23x8x15
next would be some drag radials 205/50/15 (just get some cheap steelies and throw them on at the track.
for a true street tire i hear that the nitto neo-gens are the best. they are pretty cheap too and available in a lot of sizes.

you trap speed is the same as my first turbo setup...but i was using a d15b7 with a t25 on 8psi. i went 14.6 @ 98mph withg 205/40/17's. you need more power!! are you sure it was tuned right?

i would get some slicks if you want to see how fast it will go...street tires and drag radials will not do any justice. and why only 7 psi out of a baby turbo....turn that **** up.
i don't see why people use street tires on a turbo car...bragging rights? ego? dumb ***? not enough money? get some slicks, turn the boost up on a reputable tune...and run that ish.

you only gained 6mph in the 1/4 with a turbo kit?
