Default B18b swap civic ?'s

A friend has a 97 civic with a b18b non vtec swap that I am going to some maintenance for him as he just got the car and it needs some TLC.

First question is his current p/s rack is leaking and has broken boots. The previous owner gave him a used rack to swap in that is not leaking and has good boots. He decided he is going to just not have power steering and will take all of the p/s components out. Now I know I can just loop the outlet and inlet lines and swap the new one in, but is there a manual rack that I can swap in instead that can make the steering any easier? Just a question, he knows it will not be as easy as power steering in any way.

Second question is we are also deleting the a/c system from the car, and I know for the b18b there is small drive belt that goes around the a/c compressor, crank, idler pulley, and the alternator. If we remove the a/c compressor, what belt can we use once its eliminated?

Thanks guys!

The AC compressor, Power steering pump and alternator each have their own belt. So the only belt you would need to use would be the alternator belt. You might be thinking about k series

If you need to ask these questions you should not be working on cars.

**** off. This is a worthless post, why bother even posting it?

OP, You can find non P/S EK racks (Semi-rare to be honest), the tie rods and boots etc etc should all be the same from the P/S rack to my knowledge.

Or you can swap to a non P/S EG rack (more common) However, you would also have to swap the subframe, sway bar, and a few other things, too. I looked to do this swap a while back on my 99, but then ditched it when I found out all the other things I needed to swap over. I ended up just looping my current rack.

The OP is a worthless post a 2 min google search would have answered all the OPs questions.
My answers tend to be short and to the point. If its a dumb question I will let you know about it.
Yes you can loop the PS or swap a manual rack in. You can order one from a 99-00 Civic CX without PS new from a parts store or the dealer or look at wrecking yards for one. The AC can be drained and just pulled off. You only need one belt to run the car, the alternator belt.
But really if its all there and it all works and it is a DD car just leave it. AC is nice to have in the summer. Removing the PS does not add much hp maybe like 1whp if that so unless you are tracking the car and looking to cut every extra pound from the car there is no point.
