D16Z6 High idle 1k - 1.5k (rises with temp)
I have a D16Z6 in a 93 del sol with a p28 ecu, Before i got my connectors sorted out there were like 3 different 2 pin connectors on the back of the IM weren't in the right component. I got the IACV connected and now the idle is too high. When i start it up cold its around 1000rpm and it goes to about 1500rpm when its fully wormed up. It also bogs down once i go past 6000rpm and it normally limits around 7200. when i pull it out of gear sometimes the rpms drop dramatically. The idle will occasionally bounce if its hot enough.
Ive replaced the IACV, cleaned and adjusted FITV, adjusted the throttle cable, cleaned the throttle plate, the idle screw is all the way in and i had to adjust the stopper cause it was sticking in the bore, replaced the distributor for previous repairs but i just set the timing yesterday
thanks

I wish I could help you. I have similar problems with mine. I have idle surge where it did it whenever I drove after warming up. Got code 14 (IACV). Replaced the IACV and nada, same issue. Cleaned the IACV and suddenly the car was running at a sweet 700 rpms. 4 hours later, back to looping. Code never went away.
Read about cleaning the FITV and screwing it all the way in, so I did it, and now I have very little surging idle going on, but occasionally when the car heats up, I get the surge again, but this time I can pause the surge at 1100 rpms by turning on the heater/AC..... can't figure that one out.
When cold, my car will rpm fine, but settle at 1200 rpms. Surges don't happen until I have the car warmed up for a while, and even then its sporatic. I was going to try and adjust my idle screw, but they say the proper way to do it is to unplug the IACV and jump the 2 pin connector on the ECU, then adjust it accordingly. Problem is, unplugging the IACV stalls out the car. Before messing with the FITV though, unplugging the IACV would simply fix the idle surge (idle would sit at about 500, which was still to low).
Confused at this point. Don't think its the IACV, probably the FITV, but i get the 14 code, so now I am clueless.
Have fun.
