'02 RSX-S Minor Clutch Slippage
About two and a half years ago, the clutch in my RSX-S gave out, and I put a new clutch and flywheel. I had to replace it at 190k, and despite being the fourth owner, I think that it was on its stock clutch. I replaced the flywheel with an Exedy HF02 (8 or 9 pounds, I think) and replaced the clutch and pressure plate with the stage 2 cerametallic kit. The car's basically stock.
50k miles later, I'm getting minor slipping. If I floor the accelerator, sometimes (maybe 1/3 of the time), the tach jumps up 300-500 RPM, and then the clutch catches. Say, if I were doing 20 mph in 5th, the tach would move up a few hundred RPM, and then it would back down to about where it was. You can hear the motor revving a bit as well. But in 2nd at 45, it might catch perfectly.
Any ideas?

probably heat spots on the flywheel and clutch and it is really starting to slip.
If it is a daily why do you install such a light flywheel?
Also when you installed them did you follow the break in procedure for that specific clutch?

For the clutch, I was in a hurry to order it and didn't look at the picture. As for the flywheel, I just wanted to see how a lighter flywheel would feel and have no complaints.
And yes, I followed the break-in procedure for 1000 miles. Kept it at low RPMs as suggested. Thanks...

eh, stock honda clutches are beast. but it also depends on the driver and the conditions. i saw a guy witha civic have 290k on a stock clutch, but he drives 90 miles to work one way. his clutch never got slipped for the clutch plate to wear down. now 90 miles in new york city is alot harder on the clutch
