How do you know what your putting out at the crank?

Not to rain on anyones parade, but I dont see a reason to be drag racing anything FWD. Its just kind of a silly concept to me. It cool and all to mod your car and see how fast it will run, but doing is specifically for the E.T.'s its just silly to me. I know you guys are going to pound me down with the whole 'originality' thing but I dont care. If I ever decide to take up drag racing, it would probebly be with an AWD DSM or a WRX.

if you know your whp, you can EASILY calculate bhp(crank)

list your mods, this sounds too fishy

No, but you can easily estimate your BHP.

But I have a feeling he's doing one of these...

Intake 12hp
Header 10hp
Cat 5hp
Exhaust 15hp
Ignition 5hp
Plugs-n-wires 5hp
Flywheel 10hp
Pulllies 15hp
Cam gears 15hp

Total: 92hp

Agreed. Kinda hard to pull H22 numbers without some port work, cams and pistons--not that I say he doesnt have these because we have yet to find out. But if my tranny is pissy about pulling my astronomical 120-some-odd whp, 172 is far fetched without levelten or tranny swaps every weekend.

Because it doesnt hinder the performance of it--for the most part. Thats why I am competitive. Also, to get seat time. I guess you can almost argue the same for FWD drag cars, but its just lame to me. But thats just me.

Because your 18 and need a car ASAP and dont know how to drive stick. When your not a car enthusiast, auto is the thing to get--thats why they are more expensive and are sometimes options instead of standard features.

If I knew how, I would have bought a 96 240SX manual on that same lot.

yeah, that sniper situation is fucked up. I'd keep things on the downlow if I were one of you east coast guys. America is slowly evolving into a big palestine. Started out with a bang (WTC) now lil guys popping up, just enough to freak us out. Not Cool. I see this only getting worse.

i drag race with my acccord. no idea on the power, but it weighs 2730 w/o me in it, and my best time in in my signature. h22a w/ lsd, I/E.

LudeHrt: h22a powered 92 coupe, runs 13.5@103. his car weighs like 2430 tho.
2point6: h22a powered 90-93 sedan, runs 13.2@102. not sure what his car weighs.

Isnt shifting for yourself a big part of track/autox driving? Its a big part of learning how to drive race cars, heel-toe, double-clutching etc is it not?

I dont understand why you view FWD drag racing as lame. Because traditonal drag racing is RWD? ex: american iron. RWD is also a proven superior setup for handling etc, so why race a FWD car? As long as FWD cars exist they will be raced whether its on a track or 1/4 strip. Thats the bottom line.

Are you having a bad day or something? You've been making some wierd posts.

I own both worlds.. heres my thoughts:

I'll agree with you that if they make it.. people will race it. People been racing since the Model T. If they had never built anything else you'd think the Yugo was a sports car... its all perspective.

However some platforms you're honestly behind the 8ball and you get to the point of diminishing returns. Alot of kids don't realize the 'import' dragsters who are FAST are no longer in cars that would be recognizable to their original engineers... which is beyond the scope of this conversation I guess.

That goes the same for domestic funny cars. I think alot of people really truly think theres a Camaro or Mustang under there... and thats just how the marketing depts of their respective makers wants you to think.

If you own it, race it. not everyone can own a 'fast' car ... some people have other priorities in life, and more power to them.
