how to improve my 60ft?!
Hey guys,
i took my civic for another round test at the dragstrip and again failure to launch.
im running a b16 built bottom with a garrett 60-1 set to 14psi (321whp@14psi street tune)
ran with drag slicks (23-8inch).. launch control set to 5500rpm and my boost at launch control is 10psi.
tried dumping the clutch + slipping the clutch numerous times, car just doesnt launch !
feels like it boggs or just flooring it on a traffic light, 60ft is always 2.2-2.3 ..( i never shifted to 5th gear cause i know my launch was bad)
Et 13.03 - trap speed is 114miles
any tips guys?
any ideas what should i do? was thinking of launching it at 6500rpm atleast next time

raise the limiter
i was also having the same issues on my built b16 and launching at 7700 wasnt cutting it so we went to 8200 for launch and walla no more bog issues.
also launching with 14psi out the hole

Good suspension will help you a lot, traction bar, and alignment.
You might need to go higher on ur launch, I would say between 7500-7800. Launching at 5500 sounds pretty low and you might be dropping out of ur vtech and causing it to bogg down.
My buddy's eg coupe is running a full stock gsr and boosting only at 9psi and his best time couple of weeks ago here in Sac raceway is 11.9 and his 60ft was 1.6. Tire pressure was at 10 lbs.
Youtube Team Lightspeed and its the blue/purple eg coupe.
Goodluck!

In my setup with around that hp and same slicks, I was launching at 7000 and making around 8psi off the line, still bogged a little. I cut a 1.78 on my 2800lbs car. I believe the inherit lack of torque of B16s is the problem, so you gonna have to raise the limiter. I would start at 7500rpms and go up or down from there.
On my new 600hp setup i was coming off at 7500 and about 14psi on 24x8.5x13 slicks and I spin all the way through 1st. So u have to play with it. Many factor play also like a good burnout and preloading among others. Play with it.

Are you preloading?....
Is also raise the limited...I think i was launching at 7k on my d16 and still pulled crappy 1.9s building only a couple psi off the line if that, haven't got antilag setup yet

weight up front/cornor balance/better suspension
people have went 1.62 or better on stock suspension to be honest man.
ill say youir is more than likely in the rpm's in 2 step being to low, and or not enough boost off the line.

you want to know the secret?
seat time, seat time, seat time
and write everything down, like what your launch RPM is at and everything you remember about the run
then once the night is over go back over and see what worked and what didn't work then the next week go back and start with what worked

seat time is not the secret
i was told it would take for ever being a first time racer to go 11's or better bullshit fisrt time blam
its in the rpm's and boost off the line along with tire pressure man these are the things that changer everytome you go to the track due to changing conditions
seat time blah

Seat time blah? LOL. What'd you do? Go 11s in a 9 second car, and now youre a bad ***?
Seat time is key. Every car, and every driver is different. It takes seat time to learn and setup the car. Don't listen to the guy above. He still hasn't figured out his first half.

wow i got a feeling this might get interesting...
seat time is a factor, but make sure you are making changes and trying new settings to see which one gets better results. just keep in mind that there is more than just launch rpm. you have tire pressure, burnout length, boost and antilag settings, suspension preload etc...
make sure to preload the trans with the ebrake. raise up the launch rpm until you can get it to spin, then back it down a few hundred rpm. most people ive seen run between 6 and 8ish psi cold in their slicks, with a 2nd or 3rd gear burnout that goes for a few seconds till you can see the smoke coming up over fenders/hood. go mess around with it as much as you can to see what sticks (pun intended) thats my advice, from a guy who went 11s in a 10 sec car

didnt say it was not a factor at all
im saying to many people are way to quick to try and point someone out on there driving instead of doing whyat you just did by saying there are other greater factors in this equation.

Youre a ****ing retard. Put down any respectable times, and someone might listen to you.
How do you make changes, and know that the changes are helping or hurting, WITHOUT SEAT TIME???????
From what you are saying, you could take everyone's advice over the winter, build a car, set it up according to what they say, and come out hitting 1.5s and running 9s? LOL.
Even if you took everyone's advice, and set your car up identical to Tony Palo's car, it doesnt mean your car is going to react, or take to those changes, like Tony Palo's car.
So... the moral of the story? Build your car, set it up for what it wants, and try different things. The only way you will find out what the car wants or needs, is....
Dun duh duh dun! Seat time.
And setup isnt half of it. Ive seen cars on stock suspension, no traction bars, shitty 4 year old slicks, and a LOT of seat time, cut 1.60 60's all day, every day. Just because theyre at the track every weekend, figuring out what works.
Again. Get a clue, before you try giving advice, or talking out of your ***.

seat time everytime you drive the car is a derrrrr to me man
seat time 99% of the time is you putting someone down for there driving ability. this is where i would take your cocky punk *** stick you in my seat and laugh at your punk *** when you dont do any better then ask you what your excuse.
op corner balance/alignment/play with boost off the line/tire pressure/rpm/read the logs see how far your falling back in rpm and adjust higher if need be man.

430 whp b16 here. 12lbs of boost 7800rpm launch. I would say seat time helps but I don't want to get yelled at so I'm gonna call it TESTING. It will take some passes to dial in what YOUR CAR likes. You are definitely too low on the rpm's though. Good luck.

Maybe your problem isnt seat time. Maybe its just a driver code. You should get that checked out.
