93 integra ls clutch problem
so i was driving today, saw another teggy so i downshifted and took off. when i was pulling up to the light i pressed the clutch down and it wouldnt engage so i pressed it a couple times until it did..it was giving me a hard time to put into gear and when it first happened it would make like a whining squealing noise or something when i finally got it into any of the gears sitting still..i tried adjusting the clutch cable tighter and looser..no luck. wont go into gear at all. when the cars off i can run through the gears just fine. guy i got the car from says he replaced the clutch about a year ago and the clutch felt fine since day 1 that i had it..could my clutch cable be stretched?
pressing in the clutch you can see it pull up that shift arm or whatever by the piece thats connected to the tranny..moving it by hand i hear a click like the clutch but pressing the pedal does nothing..wont go into gear >< im assuming its the cable but id like some input. thanks in advance
check the pedal and the cable. if everything is good there then move to the pressure plate and clutch. couldn't be much more than that..... sounds clutch/pressure plate related as you said you can change gears when the car is turned off. My money would be on pressure plate
how hard would it be to replace the pressure plate? is it in the tranny? i was really hoping it was the cable, ><. but yes i can change gears when the car is off. clutch is fairly new.
my pedal wasnt stiff. it felt normal or a little softer i dont remember..im honestly thing it is the cable because since ive had this car its drove fine..then it randomly does this?

ok so i replaced the cable and it still does the same thing.. >< even though the old cable was stretched. so if it wasnt the cable, its pressure plate/clutch related? great...no job and on probation just bought this car. this is the last thing i need
My guess is broken clutch spring(s)...

Or maybe broken pressure plate finger(s)...

Either way, you will need to pull the transmission, should have done so in the first place, tossing parts at a problem before you know what the problem is is an expensive way to troubleshoot a problem, on the flip side, it probably didn't hurt replacing a 20 year old clutch cable. 94
