1990 CRX Si.

Im getting a buzzing noise mostly on the highway.
It starts at around 45-50ish and sounds very faint. As I go faster it get's increasingly louder.
It sounds like it's coming from behind under the dash in the steering column area.

I read it could be the speedometer cable needs grease ?

Any ideas ?

 

Is your speedo needle bouncing? There is actually oil that flows through the speedo cable try unplugging it and take it for a spin you wont know your speed but if there is no noise you'll know what's causing it hope this helps!

Where do I unplug the speedo cable from ?

Seems like the speedo cable needs lubing or the bearings inside the speedo head are toast !

 

I had this same problem on my old car. Started off light and then got worse causing the needle to bounce and it sounded like the brake pads
