Default Quick exhaust question (b-pipe?)

"3) Exhaust. Replace the oem B-pipe and be done with it. This is the most restrictive part of the exhaust. The oem muffler flows surprisingly well and taking it off adds little to no HP if you did a 2.25" b-pipe. Make the b-pipe without a resonator and the oem muffler will sound pretty nice. Most muffler shops charge around $100, but yours will vary."

The ep3 I'm getting sounds real nice as it is, with stock exhaust, so I've decided to keep it that way. So if I can do what was quoted above to make it sound better, then that would be bawss.

Now my question is, I don't know what a b-pipe is. But, should I basically ask my muffler shop to remove the resonator?

Or how would the ep3 sound with just an aftermarket muffler?

thanks in advance

The most restrictive part of an exhaust is the stock exhaust manifold and catalytic converter... do you have a race header?

In my opinion it would be completely worthless removing the resonator as not it is not the restrictive part of an exhaust unless I'm completely blind in theory...

The "B-pipe" is the middle section after the catalytic converter and before the axle back.

Ya it has DC Headers.

And ah ok, so no point in removing the resonator right. Cause I don't want it to be obnoxiously loud. Jus a lilttle more roar.

So do you agree with removing the b-pipe then? Wait, replacing the b-pipe?

Thanks for the response.

Get an RSX Type-S OEM mid pipe or "B-pipe". It's larger than the stock and mounts directly on the EP. I know a few members on Ephatch who are running this setup with the stock muffler.

Sorry, but that is not completely accurate.

It will only work if the OP has a DCRH for a Type-S because the Type-S midpipe is shorter than the stock EP3 midpipe due to the header/cat being different lengths.

If the OP has a DCRH for an EP3, I'd recommend the Megan midpipe. Its 2.25" piping, perfect match and bolts right up to a DCRH (or stock header/cat) and the OEM axleback (muffler section). I've had this setup before and it was VERY quiet.

rsx base or type s b pi[pe will not fit on ep3

you can only use ep3 specific b pipes

megan has one check corsportusa for it

and

JP makes one
( i almost bought this one but being as how im in college i cant waste any more money on my car)

i remember someone measured the stock midpipe and posted pics somewhere its only about 1.75

if you're just going to chance the muffler...gtfo
totally worthless mod and makes your car loud...bad loud
