I have a half shaft off what is believed to be a 96 and it fit my 93 other than it was female on the end that went to the cv axle. it bolted up to the block fine and seem to fit in the tranny fine. i took it down the road and i'm leaking oil bad. did i mess up my seal or are the newer ones shorter so it wont seal?

 

its prolly the seal. their all the same length goin into the tranny. sometimes when you pull the halfshaft out of the tranny the seal will come out and stay on the halfshaft. so make sure u have a seal in your tranny, and make sure u dont have a seal in the tranny and a seal on the halfshaft at the same time.

 

 

I had it backwards, the newer shafts are male goin into the axle. Either way I've got the right one on order and I'll grab a new seal so there'll be no guess work. Much appreciated.
