I was going through the box of parts from my head that the machine shop gave me. I was putting the upper water neck and vtec solenoid back on the head and came across this in the box



I was wondering what it is. It looks like a dowel pin for the vtec solenoid but where does it go? Here is a pic of it compared to a dowel pin for the block

 

It may be the one for the water pump?

 

Check to see if the dowel pin and o-ring are under cam cap #3. If they are not present, that's where your dowel pin goes. Vtec will not work with out it.

 

yup its the one under cam 3 now I need to order the oring.....also when installing arp head studs should I put thread sealer on the threads that go to the block or should I just use oil to lube them or put them in dry
