Default boosting d16y7, need advice/build thread here

ok just ordered a ching chang to4e and log mani, still lookin at intercooler kits and junk on craigs list too , anyways can or should i keep my stock intake mani? as its not like the y8 one that all the kits are fit for.is anyone tuning obd2 i like using my torque app to data log obd2 cars with my elm327 bt obd2 adapter. familar tuning gm cars with tuner pro rt and other od1 cars but not into burning chips with burn2 and ostrich and all that crap when the obd2 is a flashable ecu.

anyways i still have to get my car put together, and fyi i work at a import shop as a technician so i have the mechanical part down lol. newb but not noob.

I still need alot of stuff: injectors probably, only plan on 5 pounds boost till the real motor is built which is another story. bov, wastegate, piping, fmic, oil lines and which way is best to supply oil?????

AFAIK, the only way to realistically keep your IM and stay OBD2 is with an AEM EMS. And the AEM is very "loose" interpretation on OBD2.

The 3-wire IACV is going to be an issue with any other type of tunable ECU.

I would just replace the IM and TB and go with a 2-wire IACV. This opens up 100+ other options and is infinitely more flexible.

best bet is to go to an obd1 chipped ecu and while ur at it to make it easy on yourself and get a y8 manual manifold and do a 2 wire iacv conversion. you will only need one o2 sensor or not use any at all and disable the sensor.

Once you go OBDI, you won't need the downstream O2 sensor anymore - that's strictly an OBD2 thing for measuring the efficiency of the cat.

You should still get a second bung welded into your downpipe. One for the ECU O2 sensor, and a second for a wideband sensor. Wideband is one of those necessary things when you're boosting.

OMG. Are you kidding me with this? You have absolutely no clue.
You should have researched all of this BEFORE you bought one single part. Click the link in my sig before you so one step further.

appreciate the advice, but not the attitude. I have researched it and still am.
in the past I helped do a d15 to4e on mega squirt; I have owned a few boosted cars. My questions about obd2.... anyone fool can slap a turbo on a car and have someone else tune it.
The only real stuff i need to be certain on is best supply for oil for the turbo and the best size/fit intercooler

You can't find the parts or you cannot find Go Auto?

As for the attitude. You shouldn't be even asking these basic question if you have done your research. Which DOES NOT mean stopping in here asking questions and expecting to be spoonfed answers. We get at least two or three of these every week. in here. You're not the first person to try and boost a car. Go read all the FAQs and as many build threads as you can. The only time you should be posting in here is when you actually run into a snag.

Wow nooby, sorry man totally noob questions here.
Ok so yes you can keep the stock intake mani you will need a pipe made to work with the top mount TB though, and the Y7 intake mani sucks. Cheap upgrade is to go with the Y8 mani.
Get rid of the china turbo and get a Precision or a Garrett.
No you can not tune a Honda with OBD2 well you can with a K series but we are talking D series. The very best way to go is to get a P28 and run Hondata for tuning or you can do it cheaper and run Crome on a P28. Either way you have to convert to OBD1. You can not reflash the OBD2 Honda ECU's. Only Honda can do that and not for a turbo setup, only for stuff like recalls and immobilizer anti-theft.

If you cannot find turbo parts in an online store that specializes in turbo parts and accessories then you need to give it up.
Intercoolers.

Oil line kits, fittings & lubrication accessories.
http://www.go-autoworks-store.com/oillinekits.html

If you want to tune OBDII then buy AEM.

I know all these things because I searched around and read. Never asked a single question in a forum. And no I wasn't born knowing any of this but I was taught how to read in school.

I weep for the future.

Dude just get the y8 manifold with the 2 wire IACV on it. Y8 manifolds are pretty cheap and they work MUCH better for turbo setups rather than the y7 ones.

Don't mind grumblemarc, hes always like that hahaha. The y8 one has a slightly larger plenum than the z6 one if I recall correctly.

ive read a million old threads; it doesnt look like this will work with a/c and I dont see a manifold that will except greddy and edlebrock. what about the manifolds that switch the compressor to the drivers side? I found one locally

Are you blind or something?
http://www.go-autoworks-store.com/gocairtuma.html

Did you AT LEAST verify that Ebay special was A/C compatible BEFORE you dropped the coin on it?
Sounds like poor planning from jump. This is why extensive research is suggested PRIOR to purchasing a single piece.

I didnt find any that said they allowed you to keep a/c and powersteering, i saw a few that said that they didnt allow for a/c. I took a risk because i can sell it atcar meets easily for $50 where I live. The casting looks absolutely identical to my manifold. wastegate placement everything looks nutts on the same. you saw my pics, what do you think??
I just looked at a turbonetics off craigs list the damn thing was sweet but someone welded it to a log manifold compressor sitting basically up on the ps and a/c. we were looking at mine and its possible it may work

Then what are you sweating for? I'm saying you wouldn't be panicking like this if you check these things out FOR SURE long before you purchase it. The phrase "I'm not sure it'll fit" or "I'm not sure this will work" should never come out of your mouth during a turbo build. If it's not in the Ebay description the you need to email the seller and ask!!!
