my 96 civic is about to drive me crazy, it would shift fine in all gears but will stop and not go into any gear you can turn car off for approx 1 min restart it it will go again for a couple of minutes and repeat it all over again ,i rebuilt it
new seals gaskets replaced a broken spring ,new filter ,new steels and clutch's
new torque convertor, i put it all back together it shifted fine in all gears guess what it does the same thing,so i got a used ecm/tcm unit ,same thing ,i checked all the connections from the ecm to the solenoids and sensors I am at my wits end, oh i also bought the atf-z1 from Honda dealer any ideas will be appreciated

 

i had this problem when my automatic took a dump on me. i would take the trans back to the person who built it and tell them something is wrong and it will not go into gear at all when warm. this is why i switched to 5 speed because these honda automatic transmissions are junk...... u could also call and ask them what the problem is if its new before pulling it.

 

Any CEL's? Best place to start.

 

IM THE ONE WHO REBUILT IT SINCE IT SHIFTS FINE UP UNTIL IT QUITS I HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT IT'S SOMETHING EXTERNAL LIKE A SOLENOID ,I MAY HAVE TO BITE THE BULLET AND TAKE IT TO A SHOP TO SEE IF THEY WILL DIAGNOSE IT BUT NOT DO THE WORK.

 

DO YOU MEAN CODES? IM NOT GETTING ANY NOW ,BEFORE I REBUILT IT I GOT THE ONE FOR NO TORQUE LOCKUP.

 

I would just do that since no one knows how well you rebuilt it or if you missed something along the way during the rebuild.

 

im just hoping that someone else has had this problem and see what was cuasing theirs to do this
