Default 98 Cx Hatchback - Top two #74 gauge cluster bulbs advice

So I just replaced the 24's and the 194 bulb in the cluster with blue incandescent bulbs from autolumination. Id say they came out pretty good, a little bit dimmer than Id like (stock ones were just about the same dimness) but overall much better than the stock setup.

So the only bulbs I did not replace are the top two 74 bulbs that light up the needles. I was wondering if anybody had experimented with changing or removing these bulbs? I feel like removing them completely will help deepen the blue color of the guages, but might make it hard to see the needles. Anybody try this?

Or has anybody changed them over to blue bulbs? Cant really decide if having those bulbs blue as well would look better or worse than the stock wite ones. I only have one extra #24 bulb on hand so I dont want to have to order a single bulb and then have it look like crap. Thanks for the help

Without them the color will be more apparent but will be dimmer. The 2 top bulbs have a green lens they shine thru. I did the amber bulbs and left the top ones clear. Mine have def faded over the years and the ones in the climate control have burnt out. I'm going to over haul them soon. I would do the top ones blue and see how it turns out. If you dont like it just put the clear ones back in or leave them out. Trial and error to your liking. Post up some pics with, without and with blue if you can.

I went with blue LEDs from superbrightleds.com. all of the rear bulbs, and the two top bulbs. Came out beautifully.

yeah, the 360 degree bulbs.

I accidentally didn't order enough bulbs. This was with one half of the cluster done, on at night. It's a good comparison between old OEM bulbs vs. new LEDs.

Don't forget to read the small print - I had only changed half of the bulbs at that point. It's MUCH brighter now, but the factory dimmer is still fully functional. I just think that's a good shot to show the difference between OE and LED at full power.
