1994 Honda Civic Only Runs Hot in Hot Weather
My 94 Honda Civic runs hot but only during hot weather. Fan runs it has a new thermostat in it an everything.
It's not the head. 200 miles have been put on it and it has only ran hot 2 times. Radiator cap has been replaced as well. No water in the oil all that good stuff. This has been going on for a while now. Last summer it would run hot so we didn't drive it at all. Winter time came an it didn't run hot at all. Now here it is getting hot again and the first time it hit 80 degrees outside it starts running hot. Fan is running to so that's not it. The whole cooling system is going to be checked into, but I been doing some research on it. Wanted to know if anyone else has had an issue like this?? It is crazy it only runs hot in the hotter weather. We drove it all winter around town and it didn't run hot. So idk. HELP PLS?

If its overheating have you checked all the hoses for leaks? Look around the hood or engine bay for water marks those can point out leaks from hoses. Maybe the water pump is bad any coolant leaking from the drivers side?
So are we just sitting scratching our heads while it "runs hot"? I don't see that anyone has tried to do one thing except park it for the summer and replace a radiator cap.
You're overheating it? Hope you didn't warp something. Check thermostat? Air in the system? Fan come on at all? Clogged rad? Coolant actually flowing? Bubbles in coolant? Oil mixing with coolant?

In the process of flushing the radiator to see if that helps. Less than 110k miles. Stat replaced twice. No water on the motor or in the coolant. No bubbles/air. When it even starts to get a little hot the car is turned off ofc..

The new thermostat could possibly be defective, let the car run hold on to the upper radiator hose and wait for it to get warm make sure you are intermittently keeping an eye on the temp gauge (don't want to overheat it) if it gets hot then your thermostat is fine. Try going to an auto parts store and see if they will let you borrow a pressure tester (use the radiator cap fitment that works on your honda and apply the correct amount of pressure.. let it sit for at least 10-15 minutes and watch to see if the pressure level goes down (if it does look under neath for any dripping and try to find the location of the leak) I hope that helps determine the issue if not I would say its the water pump but knowing the theory behind the cooling system is the best way to determine what needs fixed so you're not throwing parts at it.
fan is running. Should no more tomorrow if the flush worked. Saving checking water pump till last.
Every time you overheat it there is that much more chance that you are warping the head. Stop it unless you want major repair bills.
