Can a ECU go bad and can be check if its working?

99 honda prelude h22a4

Yes it can go bad.

The easiest way to test would be to borrow another ECU to test, or test yours in another car.

Yes, it also has to be from a manual.

Google "honda immobilizer" and find out if your car is equipped with the immobilizer. If it has an immobilizer, i think you might be unable to just "swap in an ecu" because the immobilizer system is tied in with the ecu and every component has to be factory-programmed to match each other.

come to think of it....just a shot in the dark, but if you have having "no-start" issues, then the immobilizer system might be relevant to your problem...

Ah, silly me. You're right.

Perhaps to test the ECU it may be best to have a friend's P13 handy. Of course you would need a conversion harness though...

will do, good information, thanks, but I'm also gavin a hard time finding the same ECU i have online. i may probably can't buy the same one...
