Hey techs i lost reverse in my teggy while doing a reverse donut in the snow(i know it was stupid please no comments on it i know). Anyways it started bogging down so i kicked in the clutch and had to force it out of reverse like the reverse gear heated up? i pulled the tranny pulled it apart and swapped the main shaft with a known working one. Reinstalled the tranny and still no reverse. Anyone with any help is GREATLY appreciated!

 

You chewed up the syncro. No donuts anymore, if you want to do donuts, buy a v8 rwd car that can do donuts in dry pavement easy..and you won't have to do it in reverse

 

Ok i replaced the main shaft which eliminated them syncros so is my problem on the countershaft im guessing? thanks for the info

bup still no reverse got the tranny back out and apart. Like i said i replaced the main shaft i have a spare gsr countershaft i could throw in could that be the problem? is it possible one of the shift forks got bent or something?

 

well, if you have the damn tranny apart, why not try to put it in reverse and see whats mess up....

 

Just for future info, it ended up being the bearing on the reverse idler gear. gear was frozen to te shaft from being heated up.
