Default My second shot at boost.

Well, I recently sold a bunch of my all motor parts and decided it was time to try boost again. The last time I attempted it was with an electronic Holset turbo. I am almost done with the VGT controller. The only reason I opted for a conventional Holset was due to the room required to run the HE351VE. I didn't want to modify the car to that extent. Anyway, about a week ago I decided to run boost again. Gathered the necessary parts and got to work. I built the engine with proper clearances and forged internals on friday night. Had it running saturday morning, broke it in, and started to build the turbo kit saturday afternoon. We almost finished it sunday night. Unfortunately we ran out of argon. We're hoping to finish it tonight. Anyway, here are a couple of pics of the process. Damn camera didn't save half of the pics I took...

The turbo is a Holset HX. I got about 38 different HX series turbos, so I put one together to suit my needs. I'm aiming for 500whp on E85. More details later.

How did you make out with your engine?

Here is a few more pics of what it looks like.

I'm hoping to get it running tonight. All the fab work is done.

What happened to the HE351VE ? I though a while back you found a way to electronically adjust the veins? Very cool build mate

With the help of a guy I met on the net I got to this stage.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYrthG0Yq9I

The VGT was controlled by a GM 3 Bar in that video. With up to 22 positions depending on what psi level you want.
I still have all my stuff. It's just a matter of finding a nice DC teggy to put all the stuff in. One day I will finish it

Compression tested it 260 all across. I'm going back April 14th to get the tune touched up.

Oh, do you have a HX35 12 cm^2 exhaust housing?

That intercooler looks like it can sustain about 200whp. -_-

LoL
Want to make a bet?

I got the car fired up today. Damn Neptune didn't have scaling for a GM 3 bar map sensor. Had to go with the custom setting.
I just got a few things left before I start street tuning.

Here is a quick video.

I will make you this bet... You'll be able to fry an egg on the fins of that tube/fin intercooler after a 500hp pull.

You're on! lol

I tuned the car for a bit yesterday. It's pretty cool I suppose. It was a reminder as to why I dislike boost, the car just feels way overpowered. I guess I'll go hunting for a V8 tonight when I do more tuning and Vin Diesel-it-up the first chance I get!!!
Oh, and I finally get to use my go-pro camera woo hoo!!!

Mar778c:
That 12cm housing should be shipped by today!!

Thanks for the housing.

The torque seems to levelling off, you did not want to rev higher?

are you ramping up the boost to carry out the torque curve? Or is it just creeping?

That's some great power for gsr cams tonio. Followed your allmotor build too, was awesome reading. Is the block sleeved and what psi did you get that power?? Also what are the specs of the holset hx turbo? Really good power man. Your builds always progress fast Tonio. You go from 0-max in a couple of days!

Not trying to talk ****, actual serious question here.

aren't 1000cc injectors kind of small for that kind of power on e85?
