Default LED dome lights at Lowes!!!!

So I stumbled across these sweet LED lights a Lowes. They come with a 3 year warranty and are very bright, small, and cheap. Soldered wires to it. The one on the left is positive(red).

I soldered two wires to the pins on the bulb. And temporarily wedged the wires into the bulb holder from the back side.

Do they generate a lot of heat given how much light they put out?

I can imagine the dome lens melting.

They get a little warm. Its only an LED. Much cooler than the stock bulb.

What's funny is that I used to think LEDs didn't really generate much heat at all, but I had this recent experience where I had these old PIAA Tera LED bulbs from 2004 and recently found them and decided to throw them on to see if they still worked.

I turned it on for just 1 second found it wasn't on, then turned the switch off. I then (stupidly) grabbed the bulb by the heat sink to pull it out. The damn heat sink melted into my skin and left indentations!

So not really the LED making the heat, but the heat sink sure did.
