Default Mysterious "check engine" code 3 situation. Please help!!!

Hey guys:

Recently, my H22a powered accord shut down mysteriously by the simple gentle touch of one of the map sensor wires. I tried to restart the engine and all i got was backfiring and some black some. Well, to make a long story short, the tech working on the car dissected basically all wiring from the engine to the ecu plugs and found one map sensor wire which was corroded pretty badly. He replaced this wire completely, from pin on the ecu side to the map sensor. The car now starts normally and runs fine. There is one problem though. The "check engine" light stays on and i still have a code 3, which is some kind of electrical problem with the map sensor.

The map sensor was replaced also with two working units, and still the same problem. We even checked these map sensors on another vehicle to make sure and they also turned out to work fine.

All helms manual troubleshooting procedures for the map sensor have been adequately done on the car and all turns out to be normal. The last step in this procedure is to try a good known ecu and if the problem goes away, then you have a bad ecu. Well, in this case, we've tried 4 different known perfectly working ecu's and the check engine light is still on. What on earth could be wrong here?

Just in case, (if this helps at all) i also had an alternator that was charging just over 12 volts, even a high rpm's. This situation drank all the power out of my battery, so i picked up a known properly working alternator and a new Optima Yellow Top battery to replace these parts. Charging system is now working properly.

This is one nerve racking problem!!

Regards,
Mark

Replace the map.

Does it come back when you reset?

Yes, it does. When this problem initially started (when i touched the map sensor wire) i decided to remove the map sensor that was connected at that moment and tried it on another car. The result was a "check engine" code 3 also. Sadly, that was a brand new, purchased from honda in the box map sensor. I have since replaced it with two or three working map sensors and still the same results.

Chech the wires for a short to ground or an open.
