Default Buying an Ep3 Need help again!!

So I test drove an EP3 today. and theyre selling it for an awesome price at 78k miles.

The body is fine, small scratch in some places, but nothing major. Real nice interior and body overall.

But it had a check engine light

Advanced Auto parts said that it was a Knock sensor, and evap sensor? or something, but that the knock sensor was cheap, but the evap code could be a number of things from a gas cap to a loose wire etc.

So the guy whose selling it is willing to pay for the repair of it. But I have to wait A DAMN WEEK (OMFG I WANT IT SO BAD) to get it . ARghhhhhhhhhhhhhg

So my question is. If he fixes it, should I still get it? Or is the knock sensor and evap code a serious issue? Could it cause problems in the long run even though hes paying to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Evap is just annoying but depending on where you live does or doesn't matter. Do you have emission testing? I don't... I eliminated the evap system lol

the knock sensor is important to me. I would definitely make sure he replaces that.

If you really like it and he is willing to pay for the repairs I would still go for it. Those are incredibly worryfull OMG the car is going to explode issues.

I hope you meant aren't* incredibly worryfull lol.

And yea we do have emissions, but not untill 2014 I believe.

And yea, I heard the knock sensor can mess up the timing or something.

Thanks tho. Knocked some worry off my shoulder

What's the price he's asking for it? Knock sensor has me concerned though.

Knock sensors are very sensitive sensors and fairly expensive (~$200) if you buy OEM. Is it knock sensor failure or is it detecting knock? It ranges from bad gas to failed sensor to beat engine.

I'd buy it if they fix it, and get an inspection and such. If they don't fix it, move along. Evap problems can be god awful to track down.

Hes asking 6 k for it. it has a little less then 80 k miles on it. And hes paying for the knock sensor and to get it inspected. Smoke test I think is what it needs.

There is another Ep3 I was lookin at for a good price too, but it's not in as good condition as this one. So It'll hurt to let it go lol.

When test driving it , it seemed fine. So hopefully it hasn't caused any damage to the car.
