hi i just bought a 96 ek coupe with a ls swap and i have trouble starting the car when its cold as soon as it warms up it runs fine can anyone help i've been searching but can't put my finger on the issue

 

How cold? What does it do?

 

it starts idels for a couple seconds and shuts off but if i hold my foot on the gas it will stay on but it cuts out kinda..... but after it warms up or if i unhook the map sensor the start it stays on

 

Test the map sensor, since it stays running with it unplugged that jumps out right away. Also check the IAC to see if it is plugged.

 

^^^^^ Agreed,Clean out your IACV(idle air control valve) if that doesn't work;Test it and the Map sensor,Best of luck.

Instead of bumping maybe tell people what you have done since the last post. If anything.

 

havent done anything besides adjusted the timing and it seemed to helped a little bit it doesnt act as bad but still does it i will be changing i iacv and also the fitv

 

Then maybe post back when you've cleaned/swapped them out. Maybe even try testing that MAP sensor as suggested.

the car also cut out sometime while driving on the freeway anyone have any ideas why it would do that ill be driving and all of a sudden i just loose power press on the gas and it bogs then it will catch again

 

IACV will make the car pretty much not idle, MAP will make the car idle high. If you checked the timing and it was good I would change the ECT sensor and see if that helps. Otherwise I would look at the distributor. I always assume mechanical with no CEL and Electrical(sensor) with a CEL, although sometimes it can be hard to decipher.
