94 Civic EX - bad gas mileage, engine stalls, misfires, shoots water out cylinder
Info: red 1994 honda civic EX VETCH
168000 miles
5 Speed
Last oil change was about a month ago.
as of today 3/16/2012 I put a fuel filter and spark plugs in.
Problem: At the beginning of this week my car has been drinking ALOT of gas. So i changed the fuel filter today along with spark plugs. Also when driving as in slowing down to pull into a parking space or making a turn somewhere or even at a redlight my car would cut off. Not cut off like stall or die because my radio and such was still on it just wasnt running. But since changing the plugs my rpms have risen since they would go really low when slowing down like below 600.
Anywho, its has bad vibration in the steeringwheel to where my whole car shakes and its very noticeable. But since the fuel filter and plugs were changed it seems to be riding better BUT still vibrates at idle. On top of that my boyfriend said one of my cylinders seems to be misfiring but i dont know. Its not acting out just the vibration. Ive read things about the distributor coil, cap, and button. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I havent confused you all.
TIA

Sounds like your BF right, I have a strong feeling your car running on 3 cylinders on low RPM... Have some one look at it,someone who knows what hes looking for... its hard to say without diagnostics... Could be Fuel filter, Distributor coil, Distributor cap, Vacuum issue, MAF sensor, TPS sensor... I can go on but no point...

Compression test the cylinders. The head gasket may be blown.

Water like coolant? How do you know it is shooting water? are you sure it is the cylinder, how could you see that since that is in the block?
She's saying out of the cylinder, not in. That would be a really bad head gasket leak. Can you take a picture of where it's shooting from?

Because when we took the plug out it shot water like 4 feet out of the cylinder. No sweet smell. My car never overheated nor smoked.
I just gotta say something is probably majorly wrong if anything (gas, water, oil, brake fluid whatever) is shooting out 4 feet in the air when you remove the spark plug wire. Could you take a video lol
EDIT: it looks like your engine bay is covered in old brown radiator fluid squirting from some where, I had an explorer with a leak in a hose and my whole engine bay was that color of rusty brown.

idk what an engine bay is.. but i live on a dirt road so everything looks rusty. I know i have an oil leak. Ive had it since I bought the car but its near the soleniod?. And we did a compression test and is 180. So we dont believe its a compression problem. It only shot out the water once now if you have the wire up you can see it fill with water but we do not know where the water is going because my oil isnt milky. This is the most frustrating thing ever..
and to top it all off..we have been trying to figure it out all day without pulling the head off unless we know for a fact it is the head, the cylinder next to it is now flooding with water. So my car is now running off of 2 cylinders. wtf
You're running your car like this? Have you even done a leakdown test? Probably too late for any tests. Engine is probably shot. I wonder how it hasn't hydro-locked yet.
We checked the cylinders they didnt show any compression being lost. My boyfriend is tearing the car down now and has the head off and its not the head gasket
You checked them how? Doesn't really matter since you're disassembling the engine. My money is on a cracked block.
Cracked cylinder wall? Thats pretty much the only way coolant can get into the cylinder if you say it isn't the head gasket.
All of this is really an exercise in futility if your boyfriend is currently working on the car arbitrarily and you are reporting things AFTER he's done them or in the middle of doing them. A waste of time all around for everybody in the thread.
Actually, I was just asking what people could think why it was doing so. So..if you honeslty dont like what I have to say then you can pretty much find a different post to comment on...HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY
Actually, I can post anywhere that I please. It's a public forum and you people are wasting everyone's time.
