Can someone guide me in the right path on fuel injector removal/installation.. I searched the FAQ'S but i didn't come across anything or i may have missed it. My civic is running pretty sluggish and drinking gas as if it were vodka. I believe my fuel injectors need a through cleaning. any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

 

1-disconect your battery negative terminal
2-disconect the four injectors plugs
3-unbolt the fuel lines, careful with the bronze shims
4-unbolt the the bolts holding the fuel rail to the intake manifold
5-slowly move the fuel rail back and foward and pulling
6-repeat all in reverse to mount it back

sometimes a injector or few stay on the intake mani. just repeat the step 5.

for not take risks replace all the 8 seals from the injectors.

some shops and companies works on cleaning injectors. But if you find 4 inj.
in good working condition it's more cheap. OEM brand new it's very expensive.
loock in google by your area on injector cleaning or fuel injector cleaning.

remember all the injectors in honda civic from 96-00 are the same 240cc high
impendance obd2. (integras from 97-00 are the same)

 

You can soak them in any kinda of auto shop fluid that cleans carbon!

 

I sent the fuel injectors to my 97 EX to WitchHunter Performance. They not only clean them but they check them out electrically and flow tested them before and after all the work is done. You also get a print out of how your injectors performed and if there were any deficiencies. I believe I paid less than $90 for all four injectors including shipping. It took about three business days to get them back.

Maybe you have a shop like this in your area or you can give WitchHunter a try.

 

^^ That would be your best bet. There is also an injector doctor that cleans them out for you for the same price.

See how bad they are gunked up and clean it off. If the problem persists you should send them in.


ps: 88-00 Honda fuel injectors will probably be the easiest injectors to remove.
