97 DX engine swapping into 94 LX Accord
Hey guys, I have been in the market for a spare engine to keep in my shed for my 94 Accord LX 5sdp (just for extra peace of mind) since I plan to keep my Accord for many many years to come.
I found a guy with a 97 DX automatic Accord I can get the engine from. What things in addition to the engine do I need to pull out to guarantee that I will not have any issues with a swap?
I know my Accord is OBD1 and this 97 would be OBD2. Do I need the ECU, wiring harness, etc? What things do I need to make sure that I get from him?

Okay, great! So, I pretty much only need the block and head.
Does anyone have any tips for storage of the engine? I plan on putting it in my Shed. Anything special I need to do before storage? It will be long term storage until my current engine craps out.... even though I am hoping to make it to a million miles

Then wrap the whole thing up in some .4 mil plastic sheeting.
If it is going to be idle for many months a cylinder fogging oil would be a good idea as well.
Fogging oil is a protective lubricant that is sprayed into cylinder bores through the spark plug ports to prevent internal corrosion.
Most people use it for boat engines laid up for the off season so you should be able to find it at a boater store like Bass Pro shops or West marine.
Okay..Thanks. The guy I am buying the engine from, he is going to pull it out of the car for me. Should I go ahead and do an oil change before he pulls it out, or that is not necessary?
