Default Is my car getting ready to be stolen?

Weirdest thing just happened...

My ITR is parked about 50 yards away from my office window (here in Denver). I happen to look out, and I see some guy standing right next to the left-front wheel. He's leaned over close to the windshield for a second, but I can't tell what he's doing. He then starts walking away and I notice that he has just taken a picture of my car's VIN. He walks over to his newer black NSX, gets in and drives away.

My question for the group is:
1) Anyone have any idea why he would be taking a picture of my VIN?
2) Am I going to have my car stolen in a couple days?
3) Is he just checking to see if my car is a stolen one?

I'm really hoping that this guy is just an enthusiast...I have a really good security system, but there's only so much you can do.

Thanks,
David

Dude, I hate to say this, but you better be REAL careful or its curtains for you in the next few days.

Black NSX either means this guy is a professional, a rich punk, or an Acura Salesman driving a demo...

Honestly, be careful. I would alert the police as well....maybe they can check up on it late at night over the next couple weeks.

You should walk up to him and ask him why he took a pic of your car if you see that guy again.

Or you can get a camera ready and take a few pic of him and his car when you see him again.

Maybe he wants to run Carfax before trading cars with ya.

Or maybe he is just taking a pic of the 10K tach.

Always keep your VINs covered! I would be watching my car like a hawk the next couple of days, esp at your house if that is where is registered.

Either that, or the guy is a Acura nut, works at a Acura dealer, and wondered if your car is a real R or not (not real likely IMHO).

Did you happen to catch the license plate # of the NSX?

I'll probably get yelled at for this, but this is only what -I- would do. I have time on my hands so I would park my R outside my house as bait and wait in the bushes with a baseball bat. Like I said, that's just me

that's what a lot of people here would do. that's what i would do..

instead of a baseball bat, i'd get a 6 metal bar from some construction site and borrow it for a couple of days. time to cause some damage

Whoever it is or whatever he is trying to do, i am pretty sure he is up to something. He probably saw your ITR more then once and he went back home to get the camera to take a pic, so he can do homework before making his final move. Also, i dont think he is a dealer. I bet he payed for his NSX from all the parts he sold from stealing cars.

be careful. this is how some folks do it. i use to know this one guy he drives around stolen teg without being caught. he had a wreck so he bought his car back which was total. he steals a teg and swap vin plates ... never get caught cause he has a teg reg. under him.. if they do still your car and the switch vin plates the cops will never know.

If I were you, I would go so far as to call around different dealerships in the area asking if any of their salespeople are driving a demo black NSX right now, if it was a new one. You have a description of the guy I guess, so that should help if anyone answers yes.

Cant be too safe man, there is a MORE than likely chance that this guy is coming back for you. At your house or work...this could be a good chance for you to catch a thief.

getting the plates off the NSX won't do any good, that was stolen an hour ago. and he's got connections to have a dup key made right off your Vin#.

You better relocate your car right now and store it in a garage for a few days!
or sit in the car with a shotgun ready to do some **** in when he puts the key in the door.

I just had a thought.... Are you all payed up with your monthly payments???- could be the repo guy making sure he's getting the right car.

Holy ****!

If someone steals national GStock champ's car, they are in for some serious beating. I'm IM-ing you right now with one extra security mod that'll save your car.
