I have a 95 LX 5spd with 213k that I use for daily commuting. I bought the car a year ago and the cruise control always worked. A few weeks ago it crapped out. The light for the main cruise button to the left of the steering wheel comes on when the button is pushed, but the cruise light in the dash does not come on when the SET button on the steering wheel is pushed. The cruise does not engage.

So far, I have replaced the switch on the steering wheel and the cruise control unit by the driver's left foot. Neither made any difference. I also couldn't detect any blown fuses in the in-cab and under-hood fuse boxes.

I have a funny feeling that I could have disturbed something when I put a clutch in this car a month or so ago. Are there any particular ground wires that I should check?

If the main cruise light comes on, does this indicate that the cruise module is functional? Just need some help troubleshooting...

 

Turns out I had adjusted the clutch pedal to accommodate the fresh clutch and it was no longer hitting the clutch switch plunger. Easy!

 

And we would never had known that because you didn't mention it in the first post.

 

Can't think of everything all the time...
