Help, I am a girl and don't know much about cars
Seriously, I am 17 years old and just bought a 91 honda prelude that is making a thumping noise that gets louder as my car decelerates. As I go faster, the noise is still audible though and the thumping goes faster. It's not in the transmission because when I put the car in neutral coasting, it still makes the noise. I don't think its in the brakes either because it makes the noise whether or not the brakes are applied. My brother told me it could be a bushing...Any ideas? Please help...Thanks in advance!!
You should sell it immediately and buy my 4th gen VTEC that's for sale in my sig.
Honestly though, I'd have your car checked out immediately. I can't really think of what it could be without knowing a few more specifics. Possibly somebody else will read this and help you out better. Good luck!!

it sounds like a rod knock, but I know on the 88-91 dohc lude's valve noise is really audible even with an adjustment. do an oil pressure test at idle and at 3k rpm check to see if it is still under specs. a spun rod bearing will decrease oil pressure in all rpm ranges.
i just want went out and i checked the tire pressure and i only had 20 pounds of air pressure on both of my front tires and tire tred seems to be low so i think i need new tires. thanks so much
My vote is wheel bearing(s)/CV joints going bad - I had an 88 Accord that made unhappy noises from that area for a looonnnggg time w/o them failing completely tho...
