94 LS studder and rough idle
hey guys, i am hoping i can get some direction since nothing i have done so far has helped. its a 94 ls auto.
the car starts up fine when its really cold but has a slight miss every so often. when the car is warm it starts hard and seems like it struggles to stay running. somtimes when you go to put it in drive it will studder and almost stall but then it takes off. once the car is moving and driving everything is normal until you come to a stop and the idle is rough and it wants to lunge foward sometimes.
it has new NGK plugs and wires. the cap and rotor are fairly new but i took it apart and cleaned the contacts anyway. i checked the timing and adjusted it maybe 1 degree. new fuel filter, took off the IACV and cleaned it as well as the TB. new air filter. i pulled the plugs just today and they all look clean. none of the cylinders seem to be running rich or lean. i am kind of running out of ideas. the only thing i can think of is either and injector or head gasket.
The car does seems to be losing coolant somewhere. i have to put about 1 quart of water in it every month. but i also put over 2,000 miles on the car every month. my oil looks fine and there is no oil in the coolant either. i dont smell any coolant in the exhaust and i have followed the car in my other carand no weird smells.
i have only had the car 6 months or so but it looks like the head was off recently. there are new gaskets and sealant on the head. my mileage is not the greatest at about 24-25mpg highway. but there are alot of hills. i have yet to do a compression test.
another theory of mine is that when the coolant level drops i am getting air in my IACV which is net letting the car run right.
any information will help as i have just been dealing with this for awhile now.
Thanks-
