Clutch problems
I have a '90 CRX (plain version). The clutch would engage just as the pedal was coming off the floor. Since the clutch cable was properly adjusted, I thought it was a worn out clutch but, when I pulled the trans off the clutch was in good condition. I put it all back together with a new cable (the old one would make a sort of GRONK sound when I pushed the pedal) and now the clutch won't release at all. I can't drive the car because I can't get it into gear. Any ideas? BTW yes, the new cable is properly adjusted.
I bet the throw out bearing return spring broke or is bound up in the bell housing. I replace that spring EVERY time i do a clutch job on an EF, because i have been burned too many times by broken ones. I would get an effect like the clutch getting hung up or the pedal not returning, and both times i have dealt with it, it was the throw out bearing return spring.
It sucks cause you would have to take the trans back out to diagnose, and the spring is a dealer only part, AFAIK, so you might want to pre-order one to have it around.
That's my guess.
