Default shift solenoids

i own a 96 honda accord SOHC 2.2 automatic. Having issues with hard kicking after hitting over 40 mph. If i cruise it bellow 40mphr shifts into gear smooth no problem. after 40 it starts to kick in to gear kind hard and gets a lil sluggish at times. went to my local honda repair gut stated to start with shift solenoids and trany fluid change. was wondering how hard it was to change shift solenoids upper and lower. they look like plug and go but with honda ya never know. any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Thanx fellas

They are easy to change, but make sure they are clean, operate effectively, not just the 'click' test but pull them apart and check the pintle valve and seat are clean and clear of debris.

But what can cause hard or erratic shifts are the NM/NC sensors on the right hand side cover. If they are coated in ferrous metal the signal they generate will be weak. Check the trouble shooting link in my sig. That will point you in the right direction.

thanx, a pal of mine told me to check fuel filter first, did that and the erratic pulling seemed to have cleared up. Guess it was a gas problem.
